A stand-up pouch, or doypack, is a flexible bag with a folded gusset in the base that opens under the weight of the contents so the pouch stands square on a shelf. It is made from a laminate: a printed outer, a barrier layer against moisture, oxygen and light, and a heat-seal inner. Ours take a resealable zip, and a one-way valve for coffee, a window, a hang hole or a spout if you need one. Flat bottom and side gusset coffee bags are the same product in a different shape. A flat bottom pouch has five panels and stands square by itself, which is why most specialty roasters use it: it faces forward on a shelf and the print wraps a box rather than a bag. A stand-up doypack has a folded gusset in the base instead, costs less and is what granola, tea and pet food usually ship in. A side gusset is the older, narrower coffee shape. Tell us what goes in and where it sits, and we quote the one that fits.

Freshly roasted coffee gives off carbon dioxide for days, which would swell or burst a sealed pouch. The one-way degassing valve lets that gas out and lets no air back in, so coffee can be packed straight after roasting. It is an option, not a default: only coffee needs it.

Yes. Kraft is the outer layer, with the barrier and seal layers behind it, so it looks and feels like paper while the inside does the work. Matt and gloss films, metallics and clear are the other outers, and the finishing list applies to all of them.

Anything dry that gets opened more than once: coffee, granola, tea, nuts, dried fruit, pet food, snacks, powders, bath salts. Not hot fill, and not liquids unless you add a spout, which we quote separately.

The 250g size is 13 by 20 cm with a 7 cm gusset, and it is the one most specialty brands order. Whole beans take more room than ground, so if you sell both, tell us which and we confirm the size against your fill weight before the sample.

Not in a household stream as a rule. The barrier that keeps the contents fresh is several materials bonded together, and mixed materials are what sorting plants reject. Single-material structures designed for recycling do exist; ask us with your quote and we tell you what is available for your size and shelf life rather than guessing here.
