What duty applies.

Canadian duty depends on what the bag is made of. Paper bags pay none. Cotton bags pay 7% to 10.5%, depending on how they are classified, and the other materials carry their own tariff rates. We pay whatever is due at import, so the price on your quote already includes it.

Canada also charges GST, or HST in the provinces that use it, on imports. We pay it at import with any duty, and it is in the price on your quote.

Are paper bags from China duty-free into Canada?

Yes. Canada charges no duty on paper bags, so kraft, laminated, SOS and food grade bags enter duty-free. GST or HST still applies at import, and we pay it as part of delivering to your door.

Who pays the duty on cotton bags?

We do. Cotton bags pay 7% to 10.5% duty into Canada, depending on how they are classified. We pay it at import, and it is already in the price on your quote.

How long does shipping to Canada take?

By sea, 16 to 25 days to Vancouver or Prince Rupert and 28 to 40 days to Montreal or Halifax. Toronto takes 22 to 40 days through Vancouver by rail. Add one to two weeks for clearance and delivery to your door. By air it is 5 to 8 days door to door.

What is the smallest order?

1,000 units for kraft, laminated and cotton bags. 5,000 for non-woven, insulated, thermal and SOS bags and pouches. 10,000 for food grade and compostable bags.
